Education - Young People

The Young Person is at the heart of Good Shepherd Secure/Close Support Unit and their wishes and ambitions are paramount. Young people will be supported in their ambitions through:

  • The use of Educational Support Persons within the classroom setting to further enhance the learning opportunities for each young person
  • The availability of a Careers service to promote career choices for each Young Person and to encourage and realise a positive view of the future

Young people are regularly consulted as to their opinions of their educational progress and how they might see an improvement to the service provided. As a result:

  • Each young person will have an individualised educational programme to involve them in the planning and progress of their education
  • Young people are invited to participate in:
    • School council
    • Food Committees
    • Health & Wellbeing committees

Members of staff will always find time to talk to a Young Person
